I received my BSc and MSc degrees in Medical Microbiology from Nagpur University, India, where I was a gold medalist. After a brief stint in a leading biotechnology research company, I pursued my Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology from IIT Guwahati, specializing in infectious diseases. My master’s thesis focused on identifying novel genes and their functions in the virulence of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. My doctoral dissertation centered on analyzing genes encoding outer membrane proteins of Leptospira interrogans and their modulation due to host factors. During my doctoral research, I identified several outer membrane proteins differentially expressed due to host factors, especially catecholamines. I then characterized four such novel outer membrane proteins with unknown functions. These proteins are not only essential for understanding the host-pathogen crosstalk but also promising vaccine and serodiagnostic candidates. I am currently a Postdoc at Yale School of Public Health where I work mainly on vaccine development and pathogenesis of leptospirosis and the naturally acquired immunity against leptospiral infection.
Currently my research focuses on : Environment and Public Health; Leptospirosis; Theileriasis; Tuberculosis
Featured at 21st World Congress and Exhibition on Vaccines, Vaccination and Immunization, Vienna, Austria. Link
My research interests include : Antibiotic Resistance; Disease Transmission; Emerging Infectious Diseases; Epidemiology Methods
